I would be able to show my students the history of drawings in this picture is a blue print. It is a what they would think of as "old". Now days we print out our drawings we no longer use the blue print machines, these were primarily used on manual drawings. The red ink is how a checker (a position) not regularly used as much as in earlier day. We used to say if our drawings had a lot of red ink on it the checker bleed all over our job. This meant we made a lot of mistakes. To this day I do not usually check in red ink.

Copyright
Having knowledge about copyright is important but has many gray areas and not very many people are area of what is right and wrong. Copyright is to protect the owner/creator of a product. The owner would not want someone to take their design/product and reproduce it to make money from it. Anyone can use the Fair Use, commonly used in education. You can use material (video, articles, and pictures) to educate as long as it is being used to educate not to change the material or make money off of it. You should not make copies of something and distribute them. It is ok to view and research any material. When you belong to facebook, twitter etc, you are giving them the right to use what you have posted, as long as it was displayed while you were a active participant. If you want to protect your copyright review your options in Creative Commons. This gives you options on what you as the owner will allow others to do with your creations. Schools should educate the teacher on the latest copyright policies, post in copy machine areas, do not allow video’s to be reproduced and distributed.

Learning Styles (SK)
According to the chart I am first a visual learner then a tactile and in last place an auditory learner. I agree with the test but I did think the score would have been closer between visual and tactile. I feel I am a very hands on learner and doing is better for me. I am certain this is why my chosen careers have been in the engineering field and teaching the skilled classes I teach. I like to solve the problems by drawing and fixing rather then talking or writing. I love teaching my students these technical skills. I feel my learning style helps me be a better teacher. I need to know everything about my subject and what is involved before I feel I am good enough to teach someone else. I feel in my class I target all three of target learning style. Auditory is when I lecture on the subject, visual by demonstrating the lesson and tactile by the students doing the projects.

RSS Assignment
My RSS account is through Netvibes, I found this site to be then the other sites I played with. A few of the feeds I am following have to do with engineering. As a engineering teacher it is important for me to stay up to date with the changes in engineering. I can follow the new software updates, sample projects, and job postings (what fields are in higher demand). One of the blog/feeds I am following is "Teacher's in Space" it is about a program for teacher's workshops held during the summer to promote space into the classrooms. I actually was involved in a summer program at MSU similar to this (introduced bioengineering) to classrooms. This year I had my student's do a presentation on all different types of engineering positions available. Student's were surprised at how many types of engineer's there are.

PC Maintenance and Security
PC Maintenance and Security
- File backup options
This tutorial reviewed the free backup’s online (Windows XP, Karen Ware, Mediamax and Foldershare. Folder share can synchronize between computers. There are options to do a full or partial backup depending on your needs. Full backups require image software. The options to store your backups on vary from On-Line Sites, Flash drives, CD’s, DVD’s and Laptop USB Hard drives.
- Protecting Your Family On-Line
You can clear your tracks in Internet Explorer or Firefox. In IE you may delete your cookies of file depending on what you want to delete. (I am not totally sure the difference between them) In Google you can clear your history and set your preferences to block sexual content and text or not to filter a search. You may also set the amount of search results you can see. The normal setting is set at 10, you can set it up to 100 or set it to open a new browser window. IE has a parent control has a parent password that may be set and can control the settings for language and text options. These settings are free on IE and Google.
- Helpful Web Sites
PC Pitstops.com is a site that is like a tune-up for your computer. The site can let you know where you might need repair or scan for a virus and identify common problems. A highly recommended site is TechsupportAlerts.com (Gizmo Support). This site is great for freeware utilities. The site lists 46 free programs that are compared to expensive software. Along the left side of the site it lists the top picks for free technical support.

Getting Things Done
Getting Things Done
How did you organize your process? (are you using paper and pencil, a phone, a piece of software)?
I tried to use a computer (word). Unfortunately, I do use my head as the inbox.
What was it like for you going through the process the first time?
I felt like it was too much work for me to change. I feel like I do this to a extent just not as formal.
Do you think that this process will help you? Why or why not?
I feel the prioritizing during the decision making will help me. The weekly review might be a hard habit to get into I think I am more of a daily person except for on big projects. In that case I review every so many steps depending on what it is.
Do you think you will continue this process? If not, what will your process be?
I am going to stick with my post-it lists at work and my calendar at home.

Social Networking
Social Networking
Social networking to me as of when this class started was facebook. I have my account but only socialize with my high school friend’s family and allow my students that have graduated. I have to admit I am not a social butterfly like others are. I enjoy reading other peoples comments and sharing pictures but that is all I pretty much use it for. I guess I am still kind of shy to all this technology.
I feel social networking will help me with my professional career. De La Salle is a very small private school, I am the only career and technical teacher this makes it difficult to collaborate with other teachers. Hopefully I will be able to use this tool to meet and learn more from others.
