WebQuests were one of my favorite lessons in this class. I was not familiar with these and researching them was it a good exercise for me. I was pleasantly surprised that there was any available for my subject. The one I evaluated will be a great addition to my class. I plan to research for more of them that relate to my class.

The Instructional Design Principles is a good way to evaluate your lessons. These steps will help me keep me organized and make better lessons for my students. The way it was broken down into categories helped me to get a better understanding of what should be in a lesson. Using technology to involve a student keeps them interested and focused on the lesson.

Universal Design Learning included a guide to follow to improve on a lesson. This helped me in developing the STAIR project. Using the representation, action/expression and engagement guided me through to complete the project.

Web based technologies have helped me get a better grasp on what is needed to improve lessons and keep the students interested. Learning about WebQuest lessons, the STAIR project and designing a Web Site for my class was a great experience. These projects are much more desirable to the student’s rather then boring lectures and handouts. Yes, they take time and a lot of work but will benefit in the students learning.

I have been interested in making a video for my students but was not sure how to make an interesting and productive exercise for my students. This class has given me the confidence to experiment with technology and how to incorporate technology into my classroom. My personal goal was met in learning more about power point, camtasia, designing my own website.

My goal for taking this class was to learn more about technology and how I could bring more up to date lessons to my classroom. I now plan on researching and updating my lessons using the teaching strategies and technology (blog, power point, camtasia, web site creation, and weebly) I have learned in this class. As I take these classes, I demonstrate and discuss the assignment with my students to hear their feedback and give them a taste of what options they have when doing assignments and projects. After learning Prezi in CEP-810 I showed my students and one of them used it on an english presentation the teacher was very impressed and came to me to learn how to make a presentation. The boys also enjoyed the STAIR project with the interaction; I let them play with it on the smart board.  They were learning and did not even know it. I enjoy showing people what I have learned and plan to continue on integrating technology into my classroom/school.

Online Teacher Experiences


A webQuest would be one of the technologies I would be interested in implementing into my classroom. These webQuests can be used to research and learn about a topic. If the student was asked to find a webQuest and then evaluate it (like we did for our class) this would help them learn and compare to others to see how they could improve it. Then the student could make their own webQuest. I also feel an electronic portfolio would be a great way for the students to track their progress.

In my curriculum it is very difficult to find information on the skills we learn. It would be a great help to gather more information in my subject area. Although they do not feel that a RSS reader is not an experience it would be a good tool for my students to stay up to date with the engineering industry. By designing a RSS reader and researching what is new in engineering would be a great tool for my classes.

The test preparation would be the most difficult to implement into my classroom. My tests are designing parts. I am not sure how we would be able to do this in an engineering class. I could see how it could work in a classroom where there is multiple and true and false answers. It would be a great benefit for me as a teacher to be able to get these results.

Universal Design for Learning

This was a great lesson. The examples were clear and to the point and short. When filling out the checklist it would have been confusing to me without being able to veiw the examples. I feel my type of class does match with a lot of the UDL lab by presenting, demonstrating, hands on activity, and choice.The barriers are the voice activation, animation and interaction. I am excited to implement this into my classroom.

I love it! This site had different types of manufacturing, how things are made and what they are made out of. At the beginning it has a mini quiz just to get your mind working. The questions were fun, one was about how long it takes to make a jelly bean or how many pieces are in a Boeing 777. There are so many products to choose from it was amazing.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching- Learning Tools
The video even showed the history on manufacturing and a vey quick video of the manufacturing of the plane. The video was quick moving with music this will keep my students attention. I would show some of these videos along with the pre and post tests for the explanation stage of engineering. I like to go around the room and talk about how parts are manufactured and this will be a perfect fit. The interaction between the questions and the student will keep the interest of the student. The student will be able to identify different manufacturing processes, blow molding, die casting, punching, and bending.

Ease of use

There are tabs to make it easy to navigate around the site and many options to choose from. The user does not get trapped easily (even I didn’t). I found it so interesting I wanted to keep researching to see what I could find. The responses were usually correct or incorrect for the pre questions. I would have liked it to give me a correct answer but it did mention you will get the answer during the examples. The information was laid out very well for the students to follow. If a student wants to know what steel was mad out of and what it looks like before a process you could find a way to go back at see a picture or a video. I felt the material was attractive because of the many types of products, materials, and processes there are to learn about. There are options for if you are interested in books, need to look at the frequently asked questions, online tours and technical problems.
